Awkwafina

Awkwafina began as an American rapper and singer, performing sly tunes that dealt with issues such as racial and sexuality with a humorous twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood her career, she was able to perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. Then, she started traditional and hip-hop training. In college, she concentrated on her studies, and then took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. After graduation, she start focusing on music. The song My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit across the Internet and eventually appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter track connected directly with another Awkwafina project NYC a travel guide published in the year 2015. Her resume included both musicians and an author. She was now looking to expand her career into acting. She's appeared in movies including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018, with several high profile films, including Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she released In Fina We Trust.
